Dawes on the Rise

The masses are slowly beginning to realize how great of a band Dawes is. A self-proclaimed "American rock n' roll band," the group is dubbed by some as the today's version of "The Band." And there's not one thing about this group that is sub-par. The songwriting is amazing, the music blends together perfectly, and the harmonizing vocals tie everything together.

With many accomplishments over the past few years, being named VH1's "You Oughta Know - Artist on the Rise" for September/October will help get the word out about these guys for sure. Check out the link for some great performances.

VH1 isn't the only one buzzing about Dawes. Music industry guru Bob Lefsetz has had quite a bit to say about Dawes after catching them live. Comparing them to Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and others, Lefsetz writes..
"You can go unnoticed by the arbiters, the mainstream, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have fans, who’ll listen to you, come out to see you, support you... Dawes put a smile on my face, reinvigorated me, made me believe what once was, that elusive elixir that hooked me back when, has returned."

I saw these guys for the first time back in November 2010 at Royale in Boston. I'd never heard of them, but was blown away by the show. Performing live, they left everything out on the stage, and it felt like the entire audience sympathized with every word of every song.

"When My Time Comes" is one of the hits off of their first album, North Hills, and one of those songs where you can see Taylor Goldsmith singing his heart his out.
"you can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks
you can stare into the abyss but it's staring right back"
